Trunk Wood - made of selected quarter-sawn red oak eludes to a straight parallel grain pattern. This type of cut was perdominately used in the 16th and 17th centuries and is making a comeback in the higher end furniture
lines today. This process is not only visually pleasing but also lends enhanced dimensional stability to the chest.
Cedar Lining - The aromatic cedar lining is 1/4" tongue and groove and is an effective deterrent for safeguarding valuable fabrics.
Inlay Leaves:
Palo Santo Wood. This exotic wood is a redding brown when freshly cut. As it oxidizes, the color turns to a deep green with black details.
Block "O" Red: Bloodwood: 
This hard, heavy wood exhibits bright red color and is also referred to as satine because it takes on a lustrous finish. Only a rich bloodwood could so vibrantly and respectfully represent the Ohio State University "O".
Stem, Buckeye and Border: Walnut: rich and earthy in its appeal, this wood creates a dark finish that complements and contrasts the other exotic wood colors of the inlay.
Splined Miter Joints - utilized at all 45 degree angles of the trunk and trays to ensure durability and stability for generational use.
Lid Panels - 1/2" thick wood panels are shaker style design provide ample support for the inlay. The thickness of the lid panel also enables the additional option of a plaque on the inside lid for display while opened.
Hardware: The standard hardware package is of a brass plated steel. For a greater visual appeal and longevity, a casted and hand polished solid brass hardware package is available.
Engraved Slats
- the lid panels are reinforced
with tenoned slats bearing the marks "OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY" which is engraved using a unique v-carving process.
